I bought this board recently from newegg but haven't tried it out yet. What is the purpose of the power connector immediately above the PCI-E x1 slot? I thought it might be used for extra power for the PCI-E cards but then with 24 pin moboard connectors and graphics cards with their own additional power connectors, isn't there enough power already? Also, nowhere in the documentation nor reviews of this board on other hardware sites do I see any indication that this board supports SATA-2. Wesley, where did this info come from?

guys, I've heard that they are the identical boards, however, some of their specs may not be. are they the exact same boards? not sure

    check this out

yeah ok..but the eVGA board doesn't have 3 PCI Express x16??
At lease they dont state this infomation on the site(Newegg link you gave)..Now if the jetway bios updates the evga board to the same state then I think it could make a great buy..And yes they both(eVGA&jetway) need to make there colors a little make adult like.

Look at the Newegg EVGA pictures. The EVGA board does have 3 x16 slots. The Newegg specs are not in agreement with the pictures. and the pictures match other EVGA pictures and specs we have seen. The EVGA and Jetway appear the same board with different BIOS. Many Forums are reporting success with flashing the EVGA with the Jetway BIOS.

    Hi Wes,

I have the evga board and the same memory 2x512 with 2 evga 7800gtx's(acs kits in the box), just want to verify this.
"Tests used OCZ PC3200 Platinum Rev. 2, which uses Samsung TCCD chips. All memory ran at 2-2-2-7 timing in all benchmarks."

So at 12 x 244 you were running 2-2-2-7 Command 1T and at what voltage.

I have a 4400+ that I am trying to get up near 2.7 and at the stock multi of 11 and those timings at 244 I should be in the sweet spot, I think the aquagate-mini should be able to cool the processor enough at those settings, esp based on the new inquirer article review of the coolermaster aquagate mini-120 which I have in a cm stacker.

    Thanks in advance

There are now several reports on the web of eVGA users successfully flashing with the latest Jetway BIOS. Users are also reporting that the Jetway BIOS offers more options and better overclocking that the eVGA which appears otherwise to be the same motherboard with a different, more subdued, color scheme.
  • kennyG - Sunday, September 4, 2005 - link

do you have any links..I'd like to read what others are getting as far as overclocks ?
  • Fozzik - Thursday, August 25, 2005 - link

I noticed that pretty much know I/O benchmarks were run...

Do we know that this board doesn't have any glaring problems with onboard NIC, USB, etc? The new Sapphire boards based on ATI's Xpress 200 chipset look great, except for seeminly (an difficult to explain) lousy performance of their integrated divices on the PCI-Express bus. I know this isn't the same chipset, and that all Nforce 4 SLI Implimentations are probably similar...but I'm just wondering since none of those benchmarks were included in this review. Let's get right down to it... I'm paranoid about Jetway. ;) Usually when things look too good to be true, they are.
  • Wesley Fink - Sunday, August 28, 2005 - link

We have already tested I/O performance of all of the chips on the Jetway board, so we saw no valid reason to retest the IO performance. The Marvell PCIe PHY for Gigabit LAN is an excellent performer and is just a Physical Layer to the nF4 chipset Ethernet hooks. SATA 2, USB and IDE are controlled by the nForce4 SLI chip, there is no onboard firewire or additional SATA 2 controller, and the Realtek ALC850 audio codec is used by almost every nF4 motherboard.

    Thanks for the reply. =)
  • zemane - Thursday, August 25, 2005 - link

Table on page 2 says this board has 2 x1 PCIe slots but I see only one in the picture.
    Could you confirm this? Thanks.
  • Wesley Fink - Sunday, August 28, 2005 - link

We are told the middle x16 slot can function as an x1/x2 slot when the outer two x16 video slots are in use (as SLI or dual video). While there is only one physical PCIe x1 slot, the ability to have two funstioning x1 PCIe slots even with full SLI persuaded us to list the slots as 2 x1 PCIe.

Can I stick 3 dual DVI cards in there and hook up 6 monitors?
  • tanekaha - Wednesday, August 24, 2005 - link

Thx for the heads up on this board Wesley
Looks like many ppl in this thread would like 2 see the EVGA freebie reviewed
Maybe, when ya get over your excitement, a review of the EVGA Bd would give you some more.
Looks like a lotta ppl here would be into it as well.
    Thx again

I ordered one of those EVGA combo's yesterday. From the looks of it some people are having a bit of a time with the EVGA BIOS holding the OC settings after a reboot. There is a new Jetway BIOS out that fixes this issue on their board. EVGA has not issued a new BIOS yet. If my setup has the same issues I'll prolly try the Jetway BIOS, against the EVGA forum mod's advice. Hopefully EVGA will just release their own BIOS fix in the next few days. That issue aside, the folks seem to be having very good luck OC'ing this board. I was going to wait for the ATI soloution but bit early. I like this boards 3 PCI/no jumper/bridge soloution.

If they offered it in the all silver that they did some boards in Id jump on it.
  • SilentRunning - Wednesday, August 24, 2005 - link

Is it just me or does the color scheme look a little too much like a preschool toy. I can see this motherboard perfectly at home in a lego computer case. I think a more subdued color palette would do wonders for the physical appeal.
  • lchyi - Wednesday, August 24, 2005 - link

I would totally build a case out of legos and include this mobo.

    Pricewatch --> EVGA 7800GT $399 + MB for $129 = $528 (shipping included)
    EVGA site --> EVGA 7800GT $449 + EVGA SLI MB for $0 + 11.95 shipping = $460.95
A savings of $67.50. Not a bad deal at all if EVGA's MB is as hot as the Jetway.
What I am concerned about tho, is that the EVGA is priced $70 more than the Jetway. No wonder they are giving them away, they won't be able to sell any after word gets out about this.
  • Omega215D - Wednesday, August 24, 2005 - link

I saw the exact same board at monarch computer but it is an eVGA board and it too retails at a 939 AGP killing price of $129.

  • joex444 - Wednesday, August 24, 2005 - link

Maybe a lil OT, as it applies to any SLI board, but:
Can you run a video card in one of the green slots and then use a PCIe RAID5 card, like the Areca x8 RAID5/6 8 port SATA card?
I do need RAID5, I run a development web server with a SQL server on my PC.
  • Furen - Thursday, August 25, 2005 - link

I would guess yes, since you can throw a 1x device onto 16x slot and they work fine. Of course your graphics performance will be slightly worse, but the difference should be negligible.
  • Leper Messiah - Wednesday, August 24, 2005 - link

$129 SLi board with this kind of performance? I'm there! Dual core 3800+ Jetway mobo, and an x800xl or something for now seems to be very tempting right now...
  • slsmnaz - Wednesday, August 24, 2005 - link

Why is an SLI board w/ an x800xl tempting?
  • OvErHeAtInG - Wednesday, August 24, 2005 - link

Because he could upgrade to 7800 GTX/GT SLI's when the price comes down.
  • ncasebee - Wednesday, August 24, 2005 - link

You are sure that this is the same board as the one included in EVGA's free mobo deal? If it is, I see no reason not to get this board, and save myself the money.
  • Furen - Wednesday, August 24, 2005 - link

You could always ask EVGA directly... say something like "I've heard good things about the Jetway motherboard and was wondering if they are manufacturing it for you" or something of the sort, heh.
  • Furen - Wednesday, August 24, 2005 - link

OK, I went into EVGA's support forums and though the motherboard is a rebranded Jetway they are pretty behement about you not using the Jetway bios. It might just be them throwing a bit of FUD at you but I just wanted to point it out. By the way, it seems that their current bios is a bit flaky on the overclocking front (Jetway's has already been fixed, it seems).
  • Calin - Wednesday, August 24, 2005 - link

than on other boards made by Jetway. We had one board (from several bought less than three years ago, in several months) gone bad - the capacitors were dead.
Other than that, I wonder if one could use all three PCI-E slots (having one 16x card and two 8x cards), and if not, a chipset change could solve that

  • joex444 - Wednesday, August 24, 2005 - link

Remember that this is just a paddle-less design. With the paddle you can't use the 2nd PCIe x16 slot if it is set to single mode; you need to switch the paddle to dual mode which cuts it to two x8 slots each physically having a x16 connector. Either way, there are only 16 usable lanes.

It's the same thing, plug a card in the yellow and the "paddle" is set to single x16; plug a card in the green and the "paddle" is set to dual x8.
  • kmmatney - Wednesday, August 24, 2005 - link

I've had better luck with Jetway than with PC Chips motherboards, but haven't used either in a long time. This one sounds very interesting.
  • shady06 - Wednesday, August 24, 2005 - link

wow, wasnt expecting jetway to come along and run with DFI...
  • Bozo Galora - Wednesday, August 24, 2005 - link

Well, the question is - can we GET a bios that will do the the higher MSB's???
Or is it just on your wish list.
If such bios is offered, I buy one.

The 3 slot thingy is so obvious, yet so clever.
  • Jedi2155 - Wednesday, August 24, 2005 - link

Wow, this seems like a dream board for the el cheapo enthusiast!
  • Samus - Wednesday, August 24, 2005 - link

I'm considering replacing my Asus A8NSLI $200 board with this because the Asus has huge limitations on overclocking memory and FSB.

Who would've ever thought to replace an Asus with a Jetway.
  • Wesley Fink - Wednesday, August 24, 2005 - link

Thank you to those who pointed out errors in the review. The above items have been corrected.
  • Avalon - Wednesday, August 24, 2005 - link

    This board sounds amazing.
  • bob661 - Wednesday, August 24, 2005 - link

Yeah, I'm in shock. Guess I'll keep an eye out on this one.
  • Furen - Wednesday, August 24, 2005 - link

I was wondering if the EVGA SLI that you get for free when you purchase an Nvidia GeForce 7800gt/gtx is this same board (the board looks the same except for the color scheme)?
  • John - Wednesday, August 24, 2005 - link

    Yes.
  • OvErHeAtInG - Wednesday, August 24, 2005 - link

In that case the evga deal is amazing.
  • Cygni - Wednesday, August 24, 2005 - link

    Page 1:

" The outer slots, colored yellow, are configured as x8 slots and can be combined in SLI mode using the included SLI bridge. The middle x16 slot, colored red, is a single x16 PCIe slot."

Thats not what the picture shows! ;)
  • Furen - Wednesday, August 24, 2005 - link

I dont think "Overclocking: ULi M1695/M1567" applies to this board... shame on you for using an old review as a template, heh.
  • formulav8 - Wednesday, August 24, 2005 - link

in the specs page under Bus Speeds: 200 to 40MHz. Hopefully it is 400mhz :)
